Season: Winter

Writer: Akira

Characters: Madara, Kohaku

<A couple days later. Somewhere in Tokyo, in an empty back alley.>

Madara: Once I questioned my sister again, she confessed.

This was all orchestrated by J.

I mean this as a compliment, but that kid was definitely the true-born son of GFK, the man who was hailed as the mastermind of the modern idol industry.

That kid completely outsmarted us, as we pretended to be allies of justice.

Kohaku: From the very beginnin’, even the kidnappin’ was just an act, huh.

I spent some time redoin’ our investigations, and discovered that the man we’ve been callin’ GFK II never existed in the first place.

More precisely, it seems the actual person does exist. But at the time of the incident, that person was supposedly overseas.

I was able ta confirm that he has a perfect alibi for the crime.

The GFK II who appeared in our final episode was a fake who disguised himself as the real GFK II.

Madara: I have an idea about who could be capable of such a disguise.

I wonder why I didn’t think of that possibility right away. Back at the Maizuru House, the facility that originally took care of J, there was a person who could perfectly disguise himself as anyone.

That person lent his cooperation to fulfill J’s wish.

Kohaku: That’s probably what yer younger sister and my older sisters were doin’ too.

The traitors were our most trusted family members all along. My elder sisters grouped up, got on the same page, and put on an act ta deceive us.

Their goal was ta fake J’s death.

If he was dead, the villains would never come after him again, after all. Thinkin’ about it in hindsight, that was a good move, I even feel like we should’ve thought ta try that from the beginnin’.

Madara: Yes. During the filming for the final episode of “[MaM]’s Chronicle of Parenting Struggles”, J suffered an “unexpected accident” and passed away.

He was grabbed by GFK II, and was dragged off the rooftop of the luxury hotel where we were filming.

Such a “broadcasting accident” from hell would obviously be edited out and hidden away from the public before being officially broadcasted, however.

From the very beginning, there were never any plans to broadcast that final episode, though. That whole shoot was merely a farce to lure out GFK II, whom we thought was the culprit, after all.

Our actual next episode aired will be the special episode I recorded beforehand, where I inform the audience that “[MaM]’s Chronicle of Parenting Struggles” is canceled due to J having to leave the show after falling sick.

A short video explaining this will be released, and that will become the truth of the matter, as far as the public is concerned.

However. The people in the underworld, who are privy to behind-the-scenes information, will be aware of a different “truth”.

Kohaku: That’s true. Fer them, the “truth” will be that GFK II got custody of J before commitin’ a forced double suicide with ‘im. The people of the underworld will think that this is the truth of the matter, which has been hidden from the public.

Ya can’t brainwash dead people, and ya can’t steal their inheritance, so with this, there’s no reason for anyone ta target J anymore.

Case closed, I guess.

Madara: I feel kinda bad for the real GFK II, whose identity was used without his permission for this case. It’ll be hard for him to live normally now that the “truth” of his death has begun to spread.

Kohaku: That man is also a villain who inherited GFK’s evil ideology, so I don’t actually mind that part.

He’s just another villain who’s been exiled and who can never step foot in this country again.

It might cause a commotion when someone who’s supposed ta be dead turns up alive. But if he tries ta create a fuss, an investigation will be launched an’ his secret evil deeds will come into the light, which would destroy ‘im.

I expect GFK II will desperately try ta hide himself away. At the very least, there’s no way he’s gonna try and claim the inheritance like the fake GFK II did.

He might not know exactly what’s goin’ on, but he surely understands that whatever it is is somethin’ bad. He won’t do somethin’ so stupid as tryin’ ta roast marshmallows while his house is on fire.

Madara: I suspect that man's careful personality was in fact the reason why he was chosen as the person whom that "ghost" would disguise himself as.

However, it wouldn’t have hurt them to inform us about this in advance. We did some pretty horrible things while we thought we were dealing with the person who kidnapped J.

Kohaku: We also cried until our tears ran dry when we thought we had been responsible fer J’s death after not bein’ able ta protect him. I’d say we’re equal.

No. The sadness and despair we went through then serve as a punishment fer us.

It’s karma. We did somethin’ bad, so we got our just deserts.

Madara: H~m, I just can’t wrap my head around it. Did J hate us badly enough to want to punish us like that?

We were just playing house all along, but I felt like we got along fairly well. This is a bit shocking for me.

Kohaku: Huh? Are ya stupid, it’s the opposite.

Ya really don’t understand other people’s feelings at all.

The reason why J went as far as ta conspire with our sisters ta deceive us was because he cared ‘bout us.

The timin’ of everythin’ gives it away. That kid made his move when Double Face announced our disbandin’ - meanin’, right after I was kicked off the show.

No. He made his move after me ‘n you fought in front of him.

Think back to the picture he drew of us. He drew us both smilin’ and gettin’ along, even though that was never possible.

Just like a real couple, like a real family. Pictures are reflections of the artist’s psychology - that picture showed J’s true feelings all along.

No. That was J’s wish, his ideal.

That kid really liked us. He adored us and loved us as if we were his real parents. And thus he wished fer us ta be happy.

And that smart kid realized that his existence was keepin’ that wish from comin’ true. We pretty much said so there in front of ‘im.

Me ‘n Madara-han protectin’ J. That fact was what created “anxiety” among the people in the underworld.

And ‘cause of that, ya made the decision ta cut me out of the show, ya chose to leave me.

And J didn’t want that. He hated that we couldn’t get along, so he must’ve felt like he had no other choice. Because of that, he had ta remove the biggest hindrance.

He went as far as to fake his own death ta remove his existence.

Our sisters must’ve sympathized with those emotions of J’s, which is why they chose ta help ‘im out.

They made various arrangements, and were able ta secure J safely right after he fell from the roof… After that, they made sure that kid’s death certificate was filled out, an’ also had him disguise himself as someone else and hide himself away.

And it was all for that kid’s sake. Because J himself wanted it.

That’s all there is ta it. There’s no malice anywhere, only love.
